Reality

It's funny how humans convince ourselves 

To believe in a false reality.

And I think it's because in the moment

Reality seems to bend to our every will. 

It's not until the facade of hope cracks, 

And the truth seeps out, blinding us

with rage, or sadness, or grief, or fear,

That we realize we were naive and gullible 

To our own sick joke.

And it's funny that we do it over and over again.  

Like a broken record, 

we create beauty in our minds,

and feed it with hope,

until it grows too heavy to carry.

We drop it,

It cracks,

and we crack with it.

I think we get lost in the belief of fairness ...life isn't and never will be fair. We, individually, affect the fairness in our lives. The more aware we become to the humanity we profess then the more "fair" our world will be perceived.

Life experience isn't from going to a movie, watching video, listening to news or talking heads... it's walking your talk in the world. It's about living as only you can - doing what you decide you ARE willing to do to survive for real. It's standing up for what you believe and being willingly responsible for your choices. Being hungry is real - so is cold. Being afraid and feeling loneliness, feeling insignificant or worthless - depression in every sense is real and at 2 or 3 A.M. ...well, we are all vulnerable and band-aids can be legendary. I wish you well - truly - as you continue your paths.

A very deep theme. An issue at the crux of many of our most troubled times. Reality versus Illusion. We hope against hopelessness so as to better face the sometimes unbearable indifference of life and fate. The imagery employed for such a heavy subject is light but still carries it well. Nice job
