My Echo

My Echo

A Poem by Ripple of Aqua
"

For a one so lost in their own memories, how could we ever see the world so bright after you leave? Inspired by Echo by Jason Walker

"
Walking these hallowed streets
Alone.
No one out there to hear me cry,
I don't know where I'm going--
So lost in my own world
Screaming against the fire inside
Burning me.
Trying to looked away from my only friend
Rushing along the ground;
The echo of me, reflected downcast,
But it can't even whisper back to me;
It's never enough to just be my shadow.
I don't want to be stranded here,
Forever with only my shadow under these lights.
Wish and pretending everything's alright,
That you might still be here.
Waiting, around that corner, for me.
Missing the world you showed me.
Trying to conjure back the sounds and the colors you showed.
Left on the edge of all of this;
Trying to figure it out with my only friend,
My echo,
To give me so little now that I know better,
My shadow can only be
A whisper of what used to be
By my side.

Author's Note

Ripple of Aqua
This was just picture perfect in my mind. I only hope I did the song justice; it really is a great piece.

Long time no see, but thank you for reading and tell me what you think!
