Home, is You

Home, is You

A Poem by Riss

Bare arches, no drapes of cherry smiles
Rooms too big to fill
Not enough heat to beat the chill
Bitter winter windows, no Christmas notes frosting the panes
Such small meaningless things
Such gigantic swift movements contained
All inside my rib cage
No sounds but echoes
No breath but mine, theirs, mine, their
No place to be, scrambling to find a spot
My spot by the bed, writing to fill my head
Snowflakes kissing windows
Sending shiver love notes
Feel too fever without your hands
Feel too gray without your glance

Because home is you,

Your face after the longest days
Is home
Singing under your breath
Asking me everything, for the best
The time you take to hold me
At any hint of a regret
Is home
There aren’t enough words for how this feels,
This Home
My Summer Charm, good luck breeze,
Cherry smiles, my every dream,
Wherever you are, that I happen to be
Home, is you
