Emotional Earthquake

Emotional Earthquake

A Poem by Rita

An earthquake hit,
Two days in the past,
I wasn't prepared,
It happened too fast,
It caused my tears,
To erupt and flow,
Down my stricken face,
So the world would know,

Maybe they'll come
To realize
The pain that comes
With every beat
The wounds that reach
Too far inside
The evidence, the lies,
Betrayal, Deceit.

The building collapses,
But echoes remain,
Of hoplessness,
And screams of pain.

It's so easy to watch,
When you're not inside,
When you're looking in,
And I'm trying to hide,

Soon I'm covered,
With dust and debris,
From this emotional earthquake,
A trembling me.

This is really quite magnificent. The lines:

"The building collapses,
But echoes remain,
Of hoplessness,
And screams of pain."

I thought were just an incredibly creative use of language to convey the emotion.

Great job Rita!
