A light Heart and A Heavy Chest

A light Heart and A Heavy Chest

A Poem by Rita

Pick up the dusty picture,
A captured story to be told,
Blow off the layers of abandon,
Let memories unfold.

Sit down on that dusty box,
With treasures hidden inside,
Bits and bobs of rememberance,
Wounds you've tried to hide.

Take the rusty key in your hand,
Unlock each and every chain,
Open the box that holds your heart,
And re-experience all the pain.

Close your eyes and smile,
For all the tears you have shed,
Keep your heart and forget the pain,
Lock it up instead.

I like this effort, when you write to rhyme you hit home runs. This one has a good, easy flow ( I like the "bits and bobs") and your choice of words are just right. Good read! Don.

This site is the perfect venue to release what you have stuffed away in words. Great words indeed Rita............Blessings , Carl

Forgotten memories somehow all ways seem to return to the treasure chest. Very nice!

I realize I have read this before and left comments, but not on here!

This is one of my all time favorites of your poems. So visual that it brings me right into the poem and I have to shake the dust off me as well.

Gorgeous rhymes, beautiful flow and the awesome closing lines with a great message:

Keep your heart and forget the pain,
Lock it up instead.
