Wildfire

Wildfire

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned. - Buddha

"

One whispered breath

would extinguish the flames

of this wildfire,

burning hotter

and higher

with each piece of kindling

you add to it yourself.

You will be consumed,

even though someone else

lit the match

I need to let these words soak in. I'm nice, you see--a very easy-going, nice kind of person, right up to the point where I turn into the Hulk. Nearly always, I feel ashamed of myself afterwards.

Thank you, Mark.
I don't know that we can stop the fire, but we can certainly avoid adding to it.

And some people add to many fires at once... Thanks, Marie.
The fire of anger is self sustaining. It needs that "One whispered breath" to form a fire-break. You have produced a beautiful poem, Rita. P.

Thank you so much, Pete.
How did you get so wise, I've been on both sides of the fire, either way you get a nasty burn. Nice one Rita!

Exactly - not worth the fuel, or the spirit, that you burn. Thank you, Freida.
I must echo the sentiments of the gentleman before me, very telling read.

I can feel the heat in this one. I think I know it first hand and I may even have been the one holding the match. Nice my friend.
