The Sand Speaks

The Sand Speaks

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

Listen...

"

The sand speaks

in whooshing whispers

grit and warmth

confronting ocean’s fury

with the serenity of knowing…

this too shall pass

This made me want to close my eyes and just imagine the waves kissing the beach...it's one of the most peaceful images the mind can conjure...the last line made me think of Winter and how it brings an end to that serenity...mind you, that doesn't alter my affinity for the Winter haha Like the Summer itself, this piece is short and sweet ;)

Thank you so much - yes, summer is so short, but it always returns... all things in their time. :)

Very true my friend...no rush though haha ;)
Beautiful, gentle alliterations and sibilance creating a lovely lullaby.. and "grit" with it's hard sound shows us the nature of the sand as opposed to the fluidity of the ocean. A soothing piece of poetry.

The tide comes in ferociously...and then leaves...

And the sand adapts...
A zen quality...continuity and inevitability. Well done, Rita. P

Thank you for your kind review, Leo!
A lovely read that can be taken a number of ways - the fury shall pass or the shoreline shall pass.

I particularly liked the alliteration in the begining. Well phrased.

Thanks, Steve. At least I kept rhyme out of this one! :)
That last line is a good way of describing the impermanence of the shoreline, but also the serenity that comes with the motion of the waves. There is no dread in those "whooshing whispers." For me, I think the wound is a little more like the exhale of breath once we undertake a journey to see an old friend. I'm digging these shore rights.
