Not Meant for Me

Not Meant for Me

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

A thought that came, to my surprise...

"

A thought that came to my surprise

Soon disappeared behind my eyes

It ran around inside my brain

I tried to catch it, but in vain

I think the thought was quite profound

Amazing brilliance to astound

Those ancient secrets of existence

Took the path of most resistance

The thought that came, then went away

Would deem all other thoughts passé

But because it disappeared,

I will not be so revered

I think that thought just wandered in,

Not meant for me, to my chagrin

That thought that came, to my surprise

Was meant for someone far more wise

You've done a great job with the rhyme and meter. Sometimes I've had a thought wander in that I wasn't equipped to handle. Sort of landed in the wrong mailbox, I guess. It's a fine poem, so I hope you win.

Thanks, Sam - I like the way you put that - landed in the wrong mailbox. :)
A delightful, insightful piece.... One right after another. Just like the thought itself; simple yet complex in nature, what a contradiction! Loved it!

Thank you; I appreciate the reads and reviews, and your insights!
Some thoughts are meant for others, are they just drifting around. I loved this.

Thank you, Will. Glad you liked this piece.
That was amazing. I so dislike when that happens. But it does inspire me to do something greater because if I could think of a thought that amazing then I must be capable of much more than I realize. Thanks for sharing.

nowt wrong with nonsense..all them serious geezers could do with a dose or two if you ask me..
Ha! Love that last line. And I like the idea of a thought being something that comes from elsewhere and leaves as suddenly and mysteriously as it showed up. Good stuff.
