Vacuum

Vacuum

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

So, where DOES time go?

"

I’m convinced my vacuum cleaner

has gotten too much power;

it’s not just picking up the dirt,

it’s sucking up the hours.

They must be trapped inside ~

I’ll search each crevice in it

until I find all that lost time,

and reclaim every minute.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful,

a grand cosmic maneuver,

to answer “Where does time go?”

with “It’s just inside the Hoover.”

Is that why I avoid the vacuum like a leper? It is a brilliant theory! Hours in the Hoover: hmmm, there IS a reverse function on that thing. I wonder if I could gobble up all those hours and be 25 again? What a wonderful, witty write.

Thanks, Minichinz! I'll have to try that... :)
Witty and wonderful write!! A had vacuum problems today and had to take mine apart. Didn't find any lost time...just a Lego blocking the belt. Wasted a good hour fooling with the damn thing...lol!! Like this one a lot Rita!!

Lol! Darn Lego! Thanks, Red!
A thought to ponder ... perhaps
Is it the great hoover in the sky
suckin' up our time?

A very entertaining and thoughtful write.

Thanks, Pryde! Perhaps you are right...
This is great, Rita. I'm definitely going to look into the doings of my vacuum when I'm not home. Maybe it's busily going around eating up all my hours. (A hidden surveilance camera might work . . .)
You definitely have a terrific sense of humor that gets me chuckling every time!

Thank you, Joyce! Glad to give you a chuckle!
Hmm I wonder if it were a Dirt Devil where you would have taken this one....I love your wacky style, pen on, and keep that vacuum away from your poetry!

i agree with tammy about your sense of humor...always a smile...

but what a metaphor...time does seem to get sucked up in a vacuum...and sometimes we just seem to not progress at all...stymied by the dust picker upper...even though we gather dust as we age at almost insurmountable speed.

i won't say the obvious pun here like.."this poem sucks"---

i will sweep aside that thought.
