Heartbroken

Heartbroken

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

Halloween is taking over my pen...

"

Poor Frankenstein, he’s brokenhearted

his sweetheart suddenly has departed

She left him cold on Halloween,

causing quite a monstrous scene

The reasons for the split, she said ~

no romance stirred in his flat head;

those neck bolts were just so passé

and throaty grunts were all he’d say

He’d thought that things were going great,

brought hemlock bouquets every date,

ripped open each and every door,

thought olive skin had rare allure

She said it all was not enough

no apology for her rebuff,

it mattered not how much he tried,

like Zombie hearts, their love had died

Now she set her standards higher,

trained her sights on that vampire

suave and charming in the night ~

they must turn in by morning light.

So desperate, lonely Frankenstein

has no one for his Valentine;

a swamp of tears the creature’s cried,

‘Cause no one wants to be his bride

I enjoyed your storytelling, Rita. :) It has a nice touch of humor and a bit of sadness. The thought flows very well. :)

Thank you, Blue!
You're so right. Monsters are interesting people. They may be ugly and frightening but behind their guise, there's always a sort of innocence and love. Great, cute write. I loved it.

Yes, underneath it all, there must be feelings... :) Thanks, Gleb!
Lol, your quirky works amuses me. This was very well written.

Laughed hard at that stanza, something about it is funny, but very poetic all the same, your rhymes are natural and unforced. Great stuff Rita!

Ha! Glad this one gave you a laugh, Rocans! Thanks!
I cracked up reading this - you make humor seem so effortless - but I am aware its not. takes real talent to write this well! These verses especially tickled me:

LOL! Yep - I think I dated him years ago... Thanks, Mark!
Everyone's favourite monster is Frankinstein especially popular at halloween time, fancy dress, trick or treat etc. Intuitive and so enchanting to give him feelings and that age old human quality of a broken heart, though this one was his own doing and not man-made!

Captivating and imaginative, not a trick but a real treatise to read !

Everyone deserves a little love... Thanks, John.
Aww. Frankenstein's monster was actually self educated, literate, and very intelligent. Any woman would be lucky to have him. As for your poem, it was very well done, cute, and witty. Nice job, Rita.
