Dust

Dust

A Poem by Rita L. Sev

My soul

feels

the burn

of humanity

I sweep the dust

under the rug,

where it smolders.

Today,

instead,

I will rise

from

the

ashes

Such depth in your words... truly a piece to revisit. I tend to let that "burn of humanity," be my excuse to be a recluse. Lol tremendous write, Rita.

We must regularly do some "spring cleaning", shake off the dust and face others doing the same... :).. read more
What else can you do? The burn of humanity leaves its scars, you just have to carry on. Great poem, just the kind of thing I was looking to read.

Thank you, Brian - so glad you enjoyed.
How many times can we "sweep it under the rug" before the carpet begins to form a lump and trip up the pathway?
Yes, rise and write!
Live and express.
Great little poem here Rita.

Good advice indeed... but we must each clean up after ourselves...

life is but a revolving door, the dust it creates is only a memory
There are plenty of human beings on this planet who love to singe everyone in their path. A release of their own vile character on others is likened to the bee who lives to sting others. Your final three lines encapsulate the principles we should all follow. Good poem.

So true, Relic. Thanks so much.
This world can make you want to hide away, sometimes it can be a good idea while you regain your composer. So you can return stronger of mind and heart.
