Power-bawl

Power-bawl

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

...

"

I didn’t win the lottery,

my hopes and dreams are dashed

I had so many awesome plans

for all that cold, hard cash

I could have bought a mansion,

and paid off massive debt;

procured some yachts and islands,

defined the new jet set

I’d have shared with friends and family,

and charities, of course;

enrolled in all the fancy clubs

that millionaires endorse

But now there’ll be no brand-new life,

just routine circumstance

I guess I should stop leaving

my happiness to chance

Your health is your wealth but I take your point, it's nice to have the occasional flutter and occasionally dream!

A quite alluring reverie Rita !

A dream we all have and the result we all get. Very well said.

Thank you, M! I'll stick to more down-to-earth dreams!
And life is a bit like the lottery, you never know... :))

Like Samuel, I loved the rhyme and rhythm of this.

These great rhymes and rhythms are exceeded only by your clever sense of humor. Playing the lottery is such foolishness, you know. Me--I'm gonna keep throwing pennies in this well.

gosh its been a year since I read you - but that humor and technical word smithing you do is still spot on! This one is humorous - but there is a real bit of wisdom in it. Good to read you again!

life plays us sometimes...and it is kind of sad...those of us who are poor have these dreams, and those dreams are dashed with one drawing.

we need to draw our own luck in life...it might be that simple.

love this poem, Rita...so expressive.

gorgeous dear Rita!

i put the dollars in the tank
no one to be the wiser
had to go from here to there
buy food just like a miser

no lotto bells nor whistles
no throngs bang upon the door
could not afford to sell out
to the federal gambling w***e ......

:))) please forgive my guttural growly voice ...
