Memories Lane

Memories Lane

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

...

"

While taking a familiar stroll

Along a well-worn way

I found my heart had wandered,

My thoughts had gone astray

One path led to lush, green fields

So fresh with fewer years;

And then I found a somber place,

A rain forest of tears

We never know where we might go

Traveling this terrain;

Each moment in the Past’s a pause

We take on Memories Lane

I like your poem though I would like to see you elaborate more on it. It starts the imagery of memories but ens too quickly for me. Otherwise well written.

Thank you, Rich! I do feel that this one ended abruptly... I need to revisit this.
Well you capture that walk well Rita! It does take us to different places as we "wander" the path ( :

Still walking, Renee! But most of the pauses are pleasant. :) Thanks!
Every choice leads us somewhere good or bad... not knowing till it happens is part of living... and those bad times can lead t something great, and great things can produce tragic results.

So true... Thank you, Dale!
I have a friend who's moving four years after her hubby died & I know she'll be taking much longer than she plans, going thru things, remembering . . . just like in your beautifully-written poem. The middle stanza is especially strong, the way you describe the stark contrast between our happy memories & our regrets. So true-to-life, relatable, & original-sounding.
