Betty Blue Generation

Betty Blue Generation

A Poem by Dandy in the Underworld
"

I don't know what triggered this. Just me being my ranting self.

"

We refused to accept failure as our reality,

or love as our burden.

We, the Betty Blue Generation, chained to our bedpost like prison cells,

Are not tattooed by the ransacked nation.

Beaten but not bloodied we will not welcome CNN,

We will not sprawl against the fat bellies of sharp faced politicians and their gravy propaganda

Doled out like oxycotton candy buy lonely believers.

Lacking souls and that silent ability to give in we are branded golden,

Untouched by the media moguls desperate to slide inside our blue jeans and masturbate our wallets,

Until our weekly wages have been ejaculated into the womb of their economy-ridden company.

Fuse, looked up to and followed more religiously than a sermon,

Preaches that bubble gum is the way to be.

Miley Cyrus, over blasphemous virgin, sits high,

Straddling the lap of every teenage boy’s wet dream.

And we avert our eyes, claiming we are something more than the shallow c***s our peers aspire to be.

Spit upon by the masses and shunned by the age we shred our painted t-shirts,

Screaming at the monotony we have been reduced to.

Judgement is passed before a smile can be given,

With the words “it’s time to grow up kid” ripe on every man’s blistered lips.

Thrust into a world not lent to us we are an endangered species.

Too dead to breeding for survival,

Our slogans mean more to us than our breath ever will.

As our hands slide down the glass we do not accept conformity.

We did not at the paws of the elite but disorganized fools who cannot interpret what we think.

This is not our triumph,

You are not our defeat.

We are grim-faced reality rioting outside your front door,

A choking weight that will not go away.

We are not failure,

We are not actuality.

We are purity,

Perverted by the rejection of modern thought.

We are enemy number one sent to pollute the minds of you children before they can learn to think.

We are revolutionaries lined up with an aesthetic battle cry.

We are vile saints,

Pressed against the wall for your intellectual genocide.

..Ha, I just watched Betty Blue for the first time n all...
I love this, and frankly if this is how you right then your talent for words linguistics and above all poetry is immense, the line:''Miley Cyrus, over blasphemous virgin, sits high,'' struck me the most in this piece, not because i know anything about this celebrity person, but because, even without knowing it shows the contradiction of society when coupled with the preceding line. Also, you are one of the few people who I think can get away with the use of the word''c**t' in a poem. Very very well done Xx

an exceptionally sharp sociopolitical commentary drawn with exquisite metaphors~

Wonderfully written, with some powerful language and deep thinking.
Many lines stand out especially the line with the title in and the last line.
Keep it up. This is exceptional.
