Empty Canvas

Empty Canvas

A Poem by Rose Diamond
"

I wrote this a long time ago, but it's not too shabby.

"

I used to love to smile

I used to be, what you might call

A ray of sunshine

Always searching for the light in the dark

I was that kid who always giggled

I was the one with rosy cheeks and flowing hair

The girl with bright eyes filled with love

And happiness

Oh how the strokes of time have changed me

The hands on the clock have cut and scarred me

The music I once loved bleeds out my ears

The sunlight has betrayed me

And the darkness took me in

Laughter chokes and dies in my throat

Leaving me with nothing but an empty corpse

My love has turned to hatred

And my colours have faded

But even as my colours fade

As my easel falls apart

And my paintbrush snaps

I will never be

An empty canvas
