Two Suns In A Sunset

Two Suns In A Sunset

A Poem by Ross Emerson Realino

Home sweet home, my love
At last, you're home

The sun is waving goodbye
Sinking behind my eyes
Everyday is getting better and clearer
For love will fill our home

In a world where you no longer believe
I am the only faith you can hold on to

I am an unexpected birthday gift
Sent to you in an ordinary day

Memories longer than the road we're taking
Holding hands for the next decades to come
Until the lifetime of our golden age

Those days when I can at last
Look into your aged eyes
Hold your wrinkled hand
And finally say

"Love, we have made it."

Ross, I like this poem. I'm not familiar with your work, but after reading this poem, I'm interested in reading more.

This poem has depth but a simple message, at least to me. Love is our highest hope, our greatest aspiration and inspiration. We seek it from birth to death, first from our mothers, and then from a higher being. And, for many, growing old, aging together until the end is a milestone. For old age, if nothing else, is proof to some of particular faiths that God loves them, granting life, his greatest gift.

Since I'm not a scholarly poet, and I don't conform to most poetry rules, I can't offer much feedback on style, except to say the style here works. So, write originally. Conform to nothing, unless it suits you.

About
I used to try writing songs before but I can't make one, so I tried to find something where I can put my early works of lyrics. Until they were turned into poems. I started poetry when I was 16 years .. more..
