The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse

A Poem by RougeAngel

a ship sails on the rough and unforgiving sea

she's pushed off-course by life's punishing waves.

where is the captain to steer her through the rocky sholls?

gale force winds drive the ship towards the razor sharp rocks.

in the flashes of lightning they wink at her, almost inviting her to leave her path.

but then a steady hand takes the helm and guides her away.

the hurricane-like storm tosses the ship to and fro.

with each passing wave the ship loses hope, loses her way.

a light appears on the horizon, warm and luminous.

the ship gives into her captain and lets him have control.

he directs her towards the beacon that stands tall in the ravaging storm.

as she approaches the storm subsides, making it possible to see where her captain took her.

he took her to the lighthouse.

the ship sails ever closer to it and the raging storm of life around her calms.

the sun emerges and gleams off the ship.

her captain saved her,

set her on the right path.

he brought her back to the lighthouse.

Wow this poem really gave me a great image in my head. I wrote poem like this last year, it also reminds me of a poem I read by Henry Longfellow called "The Wreck of the Hesperus" I think you would enjoy that so you should check it out. Good job!

Good job. This is very discriptive. I love how you told a story during it, but still managed a very decent poetic flow.
