Hollow Eyes

Hollow Eyes

A Poem by Rowena Slade

They say that,

If you look into someone's' eyes

You can see their souls.

But if you look into mine,

They're hollow,

Empty.

I've seen too much

for someone so young.

It's turned me hard and cold

Don't judge me

If I'm not always smiling.

Don't judge me

If my face is always serious.

My heart has turned to steal.

The things that should effect me,

No longer do.

If you judge me,

Judge me by who I once was.

Not by who I have become.

Who I am now

Is just a shield.

It hides the weak

Vulnerable me.

Please,

Get to know me

 Before you pass judgment.

Because who you see now

Isn't who I really am.

I'm hiding

Behind my cold

Hard

Hallow eyes.
