Snake Skin

Snake Skin

A Poem by EcstaticEuphoria
"

Shed you like yesterday's convering

"
I was blind
Vulnerable to your control
Weak inside,  tender touches declined
A sickness that darkened my soul

You called me ugly
Pointed out my faults
With your words, beat me bloody
Your dismissals made crimson by your assaults

Ignored me like imperfections in the plaster
Protected me from the light
Hardened your heart to a cold alabaster
Locked me in a prison of denial, stole my eyesight

I shed you along with this snake skin
Realized, I didn't need it anymore
Found my freedom within
Took my experiences with me, my mentor

Started loving me
And found myself, eventually
Such beauty in the brilliancy
Truth and glory at the root of my divinity
