the earth was made for us

the earth was made for us

A Poem by RuseInex

so,
you think the earth is yours,
for you to pillage and rape,
to take of her beauty and squander,
at the price
of those destitute
of food and shelter and well being,

you see her blue, shining seas,
despoiled with mercury,
man’s footprint
laced with plutonium,
cesium,
a plethora of synthetic elements poisoning our waters and air,
invisible stains against her foaming,
purest waves of liquid magnificence,

her winds,
they fly cold and fierce,
they carry the cold
and push the heat,

all of creation sings
on wings of glory,
while she moves and breathes,
notwithstanding her
defenselessness against the onslaught
of radiation wrought by mankind

is she yours to take
and burn her wealth,
and lay her to waste
in the face of her creator,
who made her a living thing?

is she yours when she belongs to God,
of course she is,
He made her for you,
but you deny him,
you insult him,
so,
you are not entitled to her,
you insult all of creation with your arrogance,
you,
but a speck of living matter,
your conclusion that all life is but a random accident,
manifests itself by your blatant disregard for consequences,
and your philosophies
that all things arose from nothingness,
your logic is illogical

how dare you,
. . . your insolence,
i have seen plenty of human skulls unearthed,
skinless, featureless,
save for grinning teeth,
one comes to mind,
martin bormann,

not long ago,
hitler’s henchman,
was discovered, beneath rubble,
beneath streets in germany,
cyanide capsule fragments,
particles thereof,
still lodged in crevices of his molars,
no product of random chance

she is an orb of gleaming wonder
inset as a turquoise gem of opaque blue,
of swirling white

so,
you think the earth is yours,
for you to pillage and rape,
to take of her beauty and squander
at the price of those destitute of food and shelter and well being,

God’s footstool,
blessed mother earth,
full of wonder,
full of mystery and splendor,

honor the earth,
honor God and worship him,
obey his commandments while you live upon the earth,
be a caregiver to her and to all of life
