Smoking

Smoking

A Poem by RubyOmma
"

Trying to quit

"
Lovely little cigarette
hanging from my mouth
dangling
taunting
I know you are bad
I know you are killing me
but still
I love you.

I watch the smoke swirl
and dance around...
Make patterns in the air
thrown there
by my breath.

One after another
they seem to fall
out of the pack.
One more,
just one more
Then one more after that...
Cough Cough Cough.

Each one takes
five minutes
of precious life
I know...
yet still
I love you
and can't
I won't
let you go.

Those stinky little sticks inspired you to write a poem. Inspiration!
Though I may detest them, I also must confess, I am an addict, nay, a slave to poetic inspiration irrespective of its source. Whatever you decide, dear poet, best of luck and deep inspiration to you.
