Daybreak

Daybreak

A Poem by Rudi J.P. Lejaeghere
"

A rare experience of a moment at daybreak, when something in nature seems to reveal all consciousness, cannot be explained at noon. Yet it is part of the day's unity. Charles Ives

"

On barefoot, yet before the day

dressed up in dew and greeting the grass

of gold and diamonds full, the tree

with rainbows upon and around

the sand spinning out in grains,

on my instep there’s a bit of daybreak

and crusts from the night before

through my ear sounds the corn,

the singing of the stalks,

it’s the magpie that steals the light

and is screeching in his flight

of a whole new start.

I don't know 'The New Yorker'. Is it about poetry or prose fiction? :)
Your poem is a striking revelation... to actually being there! There is much to be found in these verses, Rudi...and the photo accompaniment is picturesque.

I adore the line about the magpie! A beautiful offering, Rudi!
