HalcyonA Poem by Rylan LeifOne for birdsInto the woods to lose myself Reinvent the pieces that I wish to change. Shave off the edges in my jigsaw-- make it all fit. Escape with the kingfishers who sing inside the canopy Completely immune to the troubles hiding below. Safe from the big bad wolf of conformity. Into the woods to find someone to love I'll walk along a path until the time is right. Our paths will merge and the pieces will click. The birds will sing of love, love, love. Safe from the big bad wolf of loneliness. We ran to the woods to escape the world. Escape the evil queens who'd have our hearts cut out Escape the step mothers who'd have us slave our lives away Escape the wolves who'd trick us to our deaths. We ran to the woods to escape all the evil Made it to the edge with the help of the birds. Climb the trees and leap from the highest branch
Hand in hand we'll make our getaway into the clouds.
