Iris Song

Iris Song

A Poem by Spencer Barker

A fluttering of wings, oh how they shine.
Her eyes, approaching the light that now streams,
a river mounting its torrent.
A bluish of glean, how ever so clean they are.
A shutter and yet again the torrent.
A glancing of green, a note of sheen,
but no matter, how it makes me dream.
And yet again, do her eyes sing the song of beauty.

W.B. Yeats is my favorite poet of all time, and his "Song of Wandering Aengus" is my favorite poem. Your poem does well to rival his fantastical allusions, jovial rhythm, and almost fairy-tale flair. This is a beautiful poem, one of my favorites that I have discovered upon this website, and reading it was a wonderful, airy experience. Great job!

I look forward to reading many more great things from you.

You are so welcome! It was a pleasure to read.
Myth and tale is my favorite. I like the deep thoughts and good description in the poetry.
"And yet again, do her eyes sing the song of beauty. "
I liked the above lines. Left the reader with something to think about. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
