The Sounds Of War

The Sounds Of War

A Poem by C.N.Moore

The sounds of war felt through the ground,

with a monstrous crack such a startling sound.

Chaos fills the midnight sky,

blinding brightly with flickered light.

The rounds now fly from high above,

racing to earn that first drawn blood.

Wave after wave a relentless attack,

head first solder no turning back.

The sky she screams as bombs do drop,

without a sign that this will stop.

With all this war now at hand,

under rain filled skies I love to stand.

I know it was said before, but "Head first Soldier, no turning back" The imagery this evokes. All I can see is my love doing his duty. For he would, no doubt without hesitation. Don't know whether to thank you for that image or not: ) You captured this part beautifully.

Indeed, war has various sounds, and no matter which sound it creates, each one, either soldier or not, is determined to fight back, to survive. Well-penned. Keep writing!

I liked head first soldier no turning back, and then the last two lines of hope...thankyou, that was very good.
