White Sand with a Blue Ocean

White Sand with a Blue Ocean

A Poem by Sarah

The daydream hit me at a quarter to three

While sitting in the boardroom staring at a screen

As an old man blustered and flapped his gums

Patting his back for the crappy work that he’d done

I felt the sun and cool breeze on my face

Suddenly transported to my favorite place

White Sand with a Blue Ocean

The combination is a beautiful potion

Against the hardships and rigors of life

The hustle and the bustle and the struggle and strife

When all you want is that one cool night

On white sand with a blue ocean

I woke with a start from my pleasant daydream

Since the old man was pointing and speaking to me

About metrics and data, and business blah, blah

He was stuck in a loop obsessing about the past

My priorities shifted and my eyes glossed once more

As I thought of relaxing on my favorite shore of

White Sand with a Blue Ocean

The combination is a beautiful potion

To listen to the ocean sing and to wave

With mother Nature putting on a display

So I can watch all the animals play

On white sand with a blue ocean

I’d be in a beach chair, a flower in my hair

My rum drink’s almost gone

What’s that I see there, a pool boy on the stair

With another drink that’s meant for me

Time to retire since I’m meant to be

On shore of White Sands with a Blue Ocean

The combination is a beautiful potion

To give us pause so we think and reflect

On what’s important and what not to forget

Sometimes in life things will turn out correct

When I sit on white sand with a blue ocean

This strikes a harmonic chord (pun intended)...some settle for and within the stability they can find at the cost of the dreams they seldom touch.

There's nothing quite like daydreaming to help lay down your thoughts: create a song with a wandering tale and - what's more, a repeated theme. Can see why you're an aspiring country singer and lyricist!

The only good thing I can recall about staff meetings is that they can foster some great daydreams. Nice imagery in this one.

This is one of those songs that I may have to listen to before I can fully give a review about it. But I love the theme and the imagery, and you weave a good narrative throughout it. The choruses especially are fun. Well done!
