Mrs. Independent

Mrs. Independent

A Poem by Stephen Longo

Something so Beautiful

His eyes cant bare to close

Just to lose the image of her presence.

The undying pleasure of just

Seeing a figment

Of what is to be believed as the one.

Something coiled around the mind

Of his heart telling him to vocalize

But his feet won’t let his words stand.

Not trusting the confidence of a whisper,

He sits watching his beautiful shadow disappear

Letting his eyes close to feel her steps

Beat away with his broken heart.

Yet, there he stays hoping

When his eyes open

He will see her perfect piece,

Mend the pieces of his heart.
