Theatre

Theatre

A Poem by SPF

Anxiety attacks my every nerve
As I wait in the silent wings.
I hope the fear will not affect my verve
As the overture vociferously sings.
I step onstage and into character
All traces of me fade away
The spotlight hits me I’m no longer just an actor
The production, no longer just a play.
My character consumes me,
The audience isn’t there.
No question of who I should be.
Of anything but the scene, I am not aware.
Theatre my passion,
My one true joy.
It may not be the latest fashion,
But my heart it does employ.
On stage I feel so free and alive,
Like I have no trouble or care.
I feel like I have wings and I can fly,
I want to be on stage, take me there.
