An Unexpected Dance

An Unexpected Dance

A Poem by Lokesh

August 21, 2013

Huge walls are around me;
A dirty girl I shouldn’t be.

These walls keep me safe and away
From players and romance and freedom everyday.
I haven’t and shouldn’t cross them;
To my family I don’t want to bring shame.
One day a prince will come to take me;
And every morning I should make him tea.

I am expected to be and do as my family see fit;
Far away from rebellion I should sit.
So huge walls are around me;
A dirty girl I shouldn’t be.

If you can see, look me into my eyes;
You will see someone there hides:
A bird that seeks freedom and a chance in romance,
A girl that wants to cross and do an unexpected dance.

This was great! I hope it's not weird but this totally reminded me of Mulan. You know after happily ever after before she married shang. Either way a great write!
