Subliminal Criminal

Subliminal Criminal

A Poem by Sam

Tonight captures you,
In all your glory,
Narrates the whole story.
Wounded, the broken toy,
Your deflated ego
Long since gone,
Subliminal criminal,
It's an offence to care.

Red glazed eyes,
Loaded with misery,
Commiserations all round.
Miracles are fiction,
A mere contradiction.
Russian Roulette,
"Place your bets",
Swamped in debt.

A powerless spectator
To your endless battle,
Stranded alone with my desire
To take you higher.
Afraid for you,
Terrified for me.

Fruitful "friend"ship, never dull,
Disaster will strike,
Realism entails.
Absolute eye for detail,
Love for sale.

I also loved the part that Lace pointed out, but the entire poem is wonderful metaphor....
how hard it is to come back from being devastated in a relationship and trying to give our heart to another...
that hurt is a subliminal criminal that lies just below the surface...
I cannot believe with all these views that this poem did not get several reviews...
it deserves comments...

I adore that part. It's just...written so beautifully that it makes me stop and picture it all with a little bit of longing and connection. And the last line, of course...
"Love for sale."
Reminds me of that lovely old Cole Porter song....=)
