They're Blue

They're Blue

A Poem by Alexandria Reece

There are eyes that I once knew,
In fairy tales -- they looked like you,
And when I'd shut my own at night,
I'd find you in the strangest places,
Out in the garden sopping with rain,
Or 'neath the turbulent array,
Of cycling waves, those darkened days,
I suppose then I didn't know,
I'd someday meet that ubiquitous gaze,
As in some noir scene -- scripted,
Those muted notes crashing, cascading, resonating,
Off of every wall and window,
I haven't the faintest what it's for,
Why I feel we've met in every sleeping scene,
I can't say I'd imagined it,
No, I'd supposed you weren't real,
In those hours before the rush,
Before the Summer I first saw you,
There across the lissome room.
