The Anthem Unto Flame

The Anthem Unto Flame

A Poem by Alexandria Reece
"

Written for one of my muses -- thank you for inspiring me with your internal and external beauty these 3 years past.

"
You are an anthem unto flames,
Ascribed to ancient spells & snares,
Disbursed in blood & sable hair,
All in letters that defame me,
Oh, that I were breeze or sky,
That each day I could entreat,
With a sunset or a shower,
A cooling wind, the midnight hour,
Where sure repressed are sighs,
Leaking through your lungs at night,
As the record table turns,
Spilling songs of ruins: tired,
And sure regressed a slow decay,
Time won't pardon my desire,
Sure as day and sure as death,
All will smoke-out from the pyre,
For, until that time I'll hold,
These enchantments: wrought in bold,
Unbeknownst, so sure untold,
Here this anthem unto flames.
