The Summoned Sun

The Summoned Sun

A Poem by Alexandria Reece

Your steps ring clear, a brightly feudal sound,

As to your doors I come, seeking, singing,

Beckoning you near, come and see,

The sun you dawned upon my realm,

The silent shadows which now slither forth,

From a mind decaying in the shade,

Eyes that saw a spark, a flash,

Streak its way across the sky,

A desperate and sharp breath once held,

In lungs taught o’er not to breathe,

And e’er to keep their silent spell,

You heard my demons saunter ‘bout,

Around, around in tired shouts,

As if, as though I were there tied,

Where you drew close to cut these binds,

And no horror now hold I,

For brilliance, for light,

Where once I shuddered at the thought,

Of showing these manifold scars,

Where manifest these severed rounds,

A draught of Summer wrought in gold,

To clear my tangled veins,

A vision, a truth so reluctant,

These rays which pierce now gilded leaves,

Have shed this glint upon,

As pools of bronze or the soft face,

Of a marigold, a falcon’s wing,

Oh, come and see, the summoned sun,

You dawned upon my realm!
