Fences Block The Concrete Not Emotion

Fences Block The Concrete Not Emotion

A Poem by Sunflower/Sara Kendrick

The fresh air surrounds me entering all my senses

Grass delicate touches my ankles soft yet sturdy

Memories flood my total being__ the grief...despair

When they laid my mother to rest, no understanding

Only fifteen months old how could I understand death

Everytime I come here the emotions flood soul

Should be a lovely place of solitude to enjoy

I will try to make it so today for there's beauty

Who placed the fence here to separate me from mother

Weep my soul for her ....separated from her today

I'll leave these flowers here and sit awhile__ remember

The emotions that connect to her even in death

From this grave she reaches out to me in spirit still

I am so glad that they chose this mountain as the grave site

How could they have know that it would restore my soul now

Someday soon I will see you again in person, Mom

Well, this is pretty much the theme of my entire existence, and you do a good job representing the separation by literal barriers, but underscoring that anything manmade cannot break a bond that is eternal.
