Appetite Suppressants for the Adrenal Burn-OutsA Chapter by Sara Mercurya personal prospectiveAny person who is trying to keep weight off long-term knows how the appetite can undermine even the most rigorous efforts to maintain weight and fitness levels. Exercise more and the body requires more energy, and when the body requires more energy, you get HUNGRY. But what if you have an adrenal problem, whereby all your efforts to keep fit and trim are only making matters worse? You get hungry because your body can't absorb the nutrients you're taking in, and yet you're gaining FAT, despite all your efforts to make it all go away! What then? Any attempts to control your appetite only serve to make you more stressed out, which makes your HUNGER more difficult to control. You want chocolate all the time, breads, crackers, sugar-laden foods, and might even be feeding your body all the GOOD STUFF and denying yourself the foods your body craves ... and all without seeing any results except for FAT GAIN, muscle loss and HUNGER, HUNGER, HUNGER. I'm there, Folks. I'm what one might call an adrenal burn-out case. I hardly ever am able to sleep. My mind is constantly thinking about ways to combat my hunger and have more energy to complete workouts. It's not like I have no motivation here. I do! Just no ENERGY to continue, and am bloating up like a blimp all the while with an appetite that will not STOP. I can eat salad till my tummy is distended and still feel hungry some days. Other days, I can eat a small helping of veggies with a small tuna steak and feel like a blimp! There is no rhyme or reasoning behind what I'm eating as to my hunger levels. I know ... I've kept a food journal now for over a YEAR and nothing makes any real sense! But I have discovered a new appetite suppressant that I think serves me well thus far. Long term effects? I'll just have to do like I do with everything else I try ... wait and see what happens. White tea leaf powder. I don't buy it as such; it's Lipton tea bags ... the white tea, pomegranate-blueberry flavour variety. I just empty one of those little pyramid tea bags into a plastic baggie, seal it up, put it on a hard surface, take out my trusty HAMMER, and grind it down into a powder, and add one half of it to my breakfast crepe in the morning. I put a slice of my spouted bread in there too ... for the whole grains and nutrition, and (get this) empty one capsule of that Lipozene (it's really Konjac ... used as a food thickener in a lot of oriental cuisine!) in there. It doesn't affect weight so much as they say it does. In fact, with my past laxative usage, it actually blocks me up. So, I use one capsule in my food, the way it was originally used before it became a so-called weight-loss aid. (What a crock of crap.) The best thing any adrenal burn-out case can do is to DETOX their system and put the natural flora back into the digestive tract for the first month, then begin the exercise regimen again, so that is my plan. In the meantime, I will continue to use this ground white tea stuff and the Konjac and see how things go. © 2012 Sara Mercury |
