you are my winter

you are my winter

A Poem by Saranda

It’s impossible not to care about the way your existence burned into my skin and left me breathless. You came at me from a new direction and swept me off my tracks. Fragments of your breath fluttered against my skin and crept into me, planting segments of your being within mine. Flashes of your smile taunt my vision when my eyes close for a brief moment and your laughter rings as a constant echo. Undoubtedly, your memory weighs within my bones and your essence infects my blood. Perhaps you are winter, and you simply come and go. Whether or not there is a possibility of your return, your beauty grows strongly within me. Even though this hope of your return is equivalent to me wearing a jacket of frost, I will shine while wearing it; as if it were a coat made of diamonds.
