The Painter and the Poet

The Painter and the Poet

A Poem by Katie Lynn
"

If one knows how to speak of beauty, another knows how to create it.

"
A Poet took his gilded pen
And wrote a line or two,
Then read aloud his magic words
To mould the world anew.

A Painter heard the Poet's words,
Then took his golden brush,
To paint the world alive again,
Down to the river's rush.

Never before had our world seen
More beauty, true and fair,
The Painter brought the words to life
That breathed into the air.

Together they helped the earth to bloom,
And changed the land once plain,
Speaker of love, Artist of life,
Masters of their domain.

Oddly, this was written while I sat in a doctor's office waiting to be called on. Ideas come from the strangest places!

I think some people forget there are many forms of art, not just drawing and painting. Music is art, Writing/Poetry is art, Acting is art. There are many ways to express yourself artistically. They all relate to and inspire each other. I think this represents that! Good job

In a Doctors office? That just goes to show that the creative mind goes where it wants and respects no boundaries. I was attracted to this lovely, very well-written poem by it's title, being, as I am, one who dabbles in art as well as writing. Life would be so very dull without the arts. Mr. Paget should be proud of you. (As am I)

Thanks! I appreciate your review and opinion.
Great poem done with imagination. Art is so diverse thee days, people seem to have different ideas about what art is. The world could use the painter and the poet from this poem and right away. Nice writing.

So often I see poets works and the intense struggle for rhyme becomes so apparent it's overwhelming. Poety isn't like that. It takes on its own life, becomes its symphony and falls into place whether you want it to or not. You have found that place and I congratulate this work for simply being there.

Thank you very much!
Art is art no matter what form it takes... in fact you can turn anything into an art form with the right imagination. Lovely poetry.
