The Seashell

The Seashell

A Poem by Laura Marie
"

This is a metaphor about a girl's soul.

"
At times, I feel like I am hallow
I am a seashell
--nothing more

The outside of me looks picture perfect
bright, beautiful, and polished

But the inside is broken
Dark, Cracked, and Cold

At one time, the inside of me was perfect, too
Shiny, clean, warm
Mirroring the outside

But now it is dull
Now it is delicate
Now it is chipped and cut

Now, it is patiently waiting for something
To shatter it into a thousand different pieces.
