The Animus

The Animus

A Poem by Scottlehem
"

A poem of being

"

as my fear subsides

and I find a new girl

that makes me feel

like I’m on top of the world

and she looks so fine

that I’d ne’er deny

that she’d be mine

until the end of time

as everything seems so clear

and full of such delight

that we’re together tonight

and treasure these moments

as a sign of well being

that carries us further off

into a sojourn of rhapsodies

that energizes our embrace

as a mink on steroids

for this intoxication fortifies me

in the citadel of my heart

that sings in euphony.

and we enraptured it

on our wedding day

that we had envisioned

in the body of Christ.

Enjoyed this, thought it was going to be a standard love poem until the last two verses popped up and shifted the mood, an interesting write

Good desire and hope in the poem. To find a good girl and know peace and happiness is a very good goal. I like the positive ending to this poem.
"and we enraptured it
on our wedding day
that we had envisioned
in the body of Christ."
Thank you for the excellent poem.
