The Tale of Orcus

The Tale of Orcus

A Poem by Scottlehem
"

A gamer's paradise

"

the rituals of yesteryear

that worshiped today

in a church with a steeple

as they relinquished their souls

to a man with a robe

that cherished the upper room

as he evidently came to fall

and loved a great nation

that he must have made one

as the Bible foretold

that the end would be nigh

and the clergy understood

that his blessing was inspired

as the surveillance flights

that left out of Ben Gurian

and returned red handed

like the royals in Pyongyang

before the Chechens got murdered

and left an earthquake in Damascus.

while in the straits of hormuz

as those Revolutionary Guards

kept up their reconnaissance

as they were about to get bugged

in Washington by his cronies

and the rock and roll band

that fared from down under.

Enjoyed looking at this, I see it as a critical look at undemocratic countries mixed with a kind of comparison with religion, a sort of poetic double whammy, topped up with final kick at Washington, an interesting write, good work.
