The Poles

The Poles

A Poem by Scottlehem
"

A poem of despair.

"

I once knew the polls

as places of public policy matters

and how tawdry its become

when Clinton got elected

and Bush wouldn’t heed

‘cause Gore made it certain

for courts to decide

While I once knew a pope

that made an institution expansive

as hordes of worshipers

still found Jesus Christ

and now jelly fish sting mercilessly

in waters we’ve forsaken

as those hurt the most.

And so I once knew a leader

that had a heart

to make them stand together

or alone as the case may be

for a cause we’d understand

as faith has moved mountains

that molecules haven’t forsaken

and Warsaw has left its share.

A well thought out poem. I like the topics in this poem. I had to read again to grasp the strong statements. Good to view the world with real vision. Thank you for the outstanding poem.

Very interesting subject you picked up. well penned. Nice mixture of criticism:)

Another good poem, a mix of political and religious criticism, which naturally inspires the thought that organised religions have structures like political parties or governments, and are often very close in a pathogenic sense. Good, critical writing.

God Bless You!!!!
Interesting. This does sound like a poem of political and religious despair. I also started think about how poles were used for whipping the (non)believers.

Thanks for the inspiration.
