Giving In

Giving In

A Poem by Nicole

I am done playing superman.

I am not God.

I am made of strand upon strand of DNA,

And every molecule is seducing me.

I cannot fight who I am,

What I am,

Although I know I should.

I have been told I am a bad person,

And maybe this is true.

So perhaps it’s time to make peace with my inner demons,

And listen to what they’ve been saying.

Their “no” is etched into my skin,

And the pain would be leaking through it

If there was any left.

Why do I even bother?

I know what I am;

Why did I ever fight it?

Giving in is so sweet;

So easy.

No problem! :D
There is so much I could say about this, and so many ways I could take this, but alas I have not the finger strength to write that much. This is very philosophical and melancholy. A beautiful write. Thank you.
