Jiffy Pop Poet

Jiffy Pop Poet

A Poem by Joe Francisco

Jiffy Pop Poet

You flash in a pan
Fly by night gingerbread man
Maybe I’m just upset
Cause you took what I loved
And slapped a label on the can
Took what loved; shortened its life span
Jiffy Pop Poet; 4.5 ounces; a brand

Maybe I’m upset;
cause I didn’t get there first
But if this is what we call poetry
You’ve put the art form in a hearse
Maybe I’m upset;
Cause you got the art to the common man
Maybe I should shake your hand
But I’ll draw my line in the sand
Jiffy Pop Poet; 4.5 ounces; a brand

And it’s quick; easy, digestible
But don’t call yourself Poet
It’s detestable
Maybe I’m just upset,
but with my line drawn in the sand
on my soapbox; I will stand;
Jiffy Pop Poet; 4.5 ounces; a brand
