Standards of beauty

Standards of beauty

A Poem by S. S. Allen

Full lips
Kinky hair
Wide hips.
Luring eyes
A tempting smile.
A woman lies beneath.
She's not beautiful
And I'll tell you why..
There are no mirrors on the wall.
There are no fairest of them all.
Her song comes on.
She dances alone.
No fears of opinions.
No fears of scorn.
With a spirit so untamed
Fire rages from within
But her heart beats, it skips...
Comfortably in her own skin

I enjoy this poem. It characterizes and embodies what it means to be strong woman. I also appreciate the fact that she's aware of her weakness as well. Nice use of fairy tale reference as well. :)

Sassy and strong characterisation. There's nothing as sexy and as alluring as a confident woman - happy in her skin.
Nice one SS.
