Hummingbird: the dream

Hummingbird: the dream

A Poem by S. S. Allen

"I have a dream, that..."

I too, have had dreams, that...

Like accolades across my forehead,
I wore the royal diadems.

I lied supine, going off in a daze.
Watching my dreams slip from me.

The more I chased them,
the further they darted away.

A hummingbird's dream,
A hummingbird's sway,

But maybe, like people.
Maybe like me,

Dreams too,
My dreams,
Wanna be set free.

Dreams too,
Wanna be set free.
