I AM A BLAZING FIRE

.

                     I am a blazing fire,

                  You are a ball of snow.

         My flames have made you water

               And now you start to flow.

 

                 You pour onto the fire,

           And douse my flickering flame,

               You wipe out my existence,

               For you are not the same.

 

                 There is no blazing fire,

                There is no ball of snow.

            Just eyes that gaze at nothing

           And from them tear drops flow.

There are many ways to describe how two things don't mix: "fire & ice" . . . "gasoline & match" . . . "oil & water" . . . but this is the most amazing & original way I've ever seen it described. This is so brilliantly described in vivid metaphor that is stretched to the moon & back. I could actually feel the way it feels to (1) snuff someone else out with my personality . . . and (2) be snuffed out myself by someone else's personality. It couldn't be more stark & permanent as you've described it here. Truly one of the best ideas I've seen in your writing.

Like this Shabeeh. A relationship that was just not meant to be. Maybe change the last line though. It seems to stop the flow of the poem.
