Awaiting death

 

I sit in silence, close you death,

I hear the footsteps of someone near.

I feel overwhelming sorrow,

as I slowly shed a tear.

I feel the strike of hatred,

of someone I once held near.

I cry out loud, shaken,

as I am overcome with fear.

The crimson mark of sorrow,

as I slowly chose to die.

I do not wish to see the morrow,

I yell at the midnight sky.

All I want is to feel no pain.

As I slowly say goodbye.

All I want is to see no quarrel,

over which my life is gone.

Tomorrow you will not see me,

until you hear this song.

I see my father in this. I can honestly say I can relate. Such fear in the moment it happens even though you will yourself to be strong. you can't help but cry out, even though you hate yourself for it later. Then when its over, and your left crying, humiliated, sore and broken, all you want to do is die. But death is never easy. You wish you could die and be rid of all the pain. You try and you fail. That fail hurts even more. Then a ripple effect happens... and suddenly its worse. So what then? Do you just wait for death? Even though its the one thing you want more then anything else. Do you try again? If you fail, is it worth the sorrow? is it worth losing even more of your self to.

A sad and tragic poem. Abuse is an awful thing to have to go through.
Your poem about it is very well written. It is easy to read and the emotions
are right there. Sometimes even death seems the only way out.
It seemed there was hope at the end of this poem.

You speak so freely and in depth of the feelings caused from abuse. There is no excuse for the abuser and sadly the abused often keeps it to themselves. It is good that you choose to write of this subject and there will be those that take comfort from your words in knowing they are not a lone. This is a well written and sad work. You are pulling my heart strings here...I really can relate so much to this poem, being a victim of abuse myself.
