Snowflakes

Snowflakes

A Poem by Shadowed_pilgrim

Lunatic patterns
Banished specs of snow
Kingdom of lanterns
That whisper so low

The carving of a madman
Yearning for delicacy
Aroma of sly pecan
Millions for celibacy

Quiver in their presence
Bonnet and shovel in hand
As they lower their existence
Crystallised youthful sand

Long trafficked ordeal
The lightbulb of eternity
Melts their short puerile
Laughter of lost insanity

Born egostically to perish
Lurking the smile of a fool
Flaws and foibles vanish
Accepting their given dual

Snowflakes.

this is so cool. it's cryptic and the meaning is hidden, like some of what I write. I'm really impressed! I don't even know what the allegory is - is it the vapid masses? Born again Christians, haha? It's a snapshot into your subconscious and doesn't dwell on explaining everything. I love (I'm biased) that style

You have harvested words to define your thoughts...you are the poet.
I have never seen such length for a snowflake...all in the name of something pretty...
A nice job here.
Enjoyed it.

Thank you Scott, I'm glad you liked it :)
There's some really interesting use of language in this poem, and - a rare thing - a unique poetic voice. I think the first line is wonderful 'lunatic patterns' and 'kingdoms of lanterns'. 'The lightbulb of eternity...Born egotistically to perish'. Keep hold of that voice - I look forward to hearing more from it. Thanks for imagining, writing, and sharing thia with us :)

Thank you dearly :) I think part of the voice you refer to is an attribute of my child-like views on.. read more
Lovely! I especially enjoyed the metaphoric comparisons; "Bonnet and shovel in hand", "Born egotistically to perish"... truly beautiful! (And timely, due to the season)
