Cold Quiet Corner

Cold Quiet Corner

A Poem by Anna

This cold quiet corner
Crowded by only a handful
Moves along to its own rhythm
Out of tune with society.

A hundred and one feet pass by every second
Each one louder than the one before.
Last nights game and tomorrows plans
Come spewing from their mouths.
But the talk of a coming party has the loudest cry of all.

Every fake laugh
And cry for attention is silenced
When our voices create a barrier.
Life is muted for the moment
As we're trapped in our own world.

A hundred and one topics pass by every second
Each one more interesting than the one before.
Latest books read and tomorrows D&D game
Come spilling from their mouths.
But the talk of society and religion has the loudest cry of all.

This quiet cold corner
Now left empty
Still moves along to its own rhythm
Out of tune with society.

The sound of silence is almost always the loudest. Out of tune with society is a place where many of us dwell, it feels like that quiet corner is empty but in actuality it's quite crowded at times. Rhythmic life set to music, sometimes, ha, most times I hear the beat of a different drummer. Nice one!

Well enjoy, you'll look back at your high school years a lot when you get older....

It'll be something I never forget.
The main reason it is quiet and cold is because there are only a handful of people who are smart enough...or stupid enough, one might argue...to tackle the relevant topics. It is so easy to say "Great game..." when what we really want to say is "Why the f**k does the leader of the free world have enough time on his hands to regulate football...?" I am looking at you, Anna ;-)

Interesting, I can relate to this "quiet corner", great poem you managed to write here, the wall is too big, and that corner is so dark and cold...great job
