WONDER BEHIND THE BLACK

WONDER BEHIND THE BLACK

A Poem by Red Rose

She drew them in black.
Lucid lines bending in feeling,
abstract yet melodious.
The heart's chaos and
the mind's order,
Unraveling on the wall.

A hateful portrait to the judgmental.
But a rebellious inspiration for the dreamer.
She brushed her final stroke with a dramatic touch and walked away,
not taking a second glance.

Reaching for the light switch,
She turned watching with blazing eyes
As the lights bowed before darkness.
And from that black canvas,
life glowed a million shades of wonder.

There's always been a need for black.. tis an essntial.. a comparison without which colour would have far less meaning. Your words electrify the senses.. you creep in language that defies genre, then press every switch and send the senses riding on a rainbow. Brilliantly intriguing and unique..

'.. She turned watching with blazing eyes ~ As the lights bowed before darkness. '

The Red Rose peeks out from behind the black curtain
and exposes the brilliant, flashing darkness of the scene.

Delightfully done.

I can see the experimental part.
It feels very 'cosmic' with dreamers, blazing eyes, and lucid lines.

nice ending:

life glowed a million shades of wonder

Excellent (w)rite RR. Many meanings in 'lucid lines' being drawn, with every bend coming to terms with something or perhaps imposing a measurable boundary. I personally enjoyed the final stanza, it gives an impressionistic point of view toward an unpainted horizon waiting to be colored in. Overall, your 'experimental' poem was well worth the read, and should be considered, by you, a feather quill in your cap. You should look up the Italian word Tenebroso or Tenebrism, it's one of my favorite styles of archaic art. (:

This was a great pleasure to read. I found enjoyment in every line. It in its self is abstract yet easy to understand. This paints a fairly familiar picture for me. Yours truly a Mad Lord.
